One day evaluation
Prior
to engaging in evaluation of your company's operations
and management practices, our business coach will fax
and mail a signed assurance that Management Uplink will
not reveal any confidential information concerning your
company without your prior written consent. Further,
if we are engaged to provide small business consulting
service to your company, we will not work for any of
your competitors without first receiving your written
permission.
The "one day" evaluation typically takes more
than one day to complete. We call it a "one day"
evaluation because that is all we bill for the service.
We usually find that the company is doing well in most
operating areas. Our intent is to find how a good company
can be better and not, usually, how a poorly performing
company can become good.
To minimize costs,
the "one day" evaluation is conducted by telephone,
fax, and email. We ask that financial data and completed
questionnaires be mailed directly to the business coach.
The "one day" evaluation consists of the following:
Review
of company financial statements
These are copies of your company's income (profit &
loss) and balance sheet statements, tax returns, last
12 bank deposits, and letters from your accountant.
We ask for five years history (or as many years as readily
available up to five years). We look for profit and
cost ratio trends, comparison with other companies of
your size in your industry, format of the financial
reports, and other financial considerations.
Interview
company principals and key employees
Our business coach interviews you, other company principals,
and key employees to define your concerns for improvement
of company operations. We use the interviews to identify
specific management and procedural problems and structure
the written report.
Review
background information from internet and library sources
Generally, we can find comparative financial ratio for
the company - what net profit ratios, current ratios,
etc do companies in the same industry and of the same
size have? We also scan the industry category for articles
and other current information on the industry.
Analyze completed
confidential questionnaires
We will send you a questionnaire for distribution to
your employees. We ask that the sealed completed questionnaires
be returned to us for compilation and evaluation. Our
commitment to your employees is that no individual statement
in the questionnaire will be revealed to you or other
company top management. We want the employees to express
their frank opinions without fear of retribution.
Written Evaluation
On conclusion of the "one day" evaluation,
the business coach will write a report that includes:
1) identification of management and operating problems
discovered,
2) the business coach's recommendation for small business
consulting service, if any, to remedy the identified
problems, and
3) total cost to carry out the small business consulting
service project.
The written report will be emailed or faxed to you
prior to a telephone call. Depending on the problems
discovered, the business coach's recommendation may
range from a simple reassurance that that you are in
good shape and moving in the right direction to a full
blown small business consulting project.
Regardless of the time spent in evaluation and writing
the report, you will only be invoiced for a one time
evaluation fee - $500.
We expect that, by the
time the evaluation has been conducted and the facts
of your situation defined, there will be a consensus
on how to address the company's problems. The business
coach may lay out and cost out a small business consulting
project for your consideration. If you agree with the
project plan, the business coach will send a small business
consulting project agreement for your signature and
return. The small business consulting project, if recommended,
will be commenced only after the signed agreement is
returned.
You are not committed to pay anything, other than the
one day evaluation fee ($500), until the signed small
business consulting project is returned. One term of
our standard small business consulting agreement is
that you are in control of the project and can terminate
it at any point with one day notice.
